If you are a student in 3rd to 11th grade, the Department of Mathematical Sciences at UPR-Mayaguez Campus invites you to participate in the cycle of Mathematical Olympiads of Puerto Rico 2023-2024.
From April 17th to May 15th, 2023.
The University of Puerto Rico in collaboration with the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the Mayagüez University Campus, through the Mathematical Olympiad of Puerto Rico (OMPR) project, invites all students from schools in Puerto Rico who are currently studying in the following three levels: 3rd-5th grades, 6th-8th grades, and 9th-11th grades, to participate in the annual cycle of competition for math Olympiad students. Our cycle begins every year in April with an exam distributed through this page and ends with a camp involving the top students from Puerto Rico.
Objectives of the OMPR project:
- Identify mathematical talent in Puerto Rico and stimulate it to reach its full potential.
- Strengthen the teaching of mathematics in schools in Puerto Rico.
- Support mathematics teachers by providing them with the necessary tools to work with talented students in the area of mathematics within a problem-solving framework.
- Institutionalize the Olympic activity in the field of mathematics in Puerto Rico.
